Out and about on a Saturday night looking for a casual bite to eat. Tired of the same options we decided to stray from our norm and try Noodle Revolution in Westerly. I was excited that I was able to convince Mike to check out the new noodle craze (well new to us!)
As we pulled up to the restaurant we could see it was a full house inside. Parking was tricky as it’s on street parking only and the both sides of the streets were lined with cars. After circling around twice we settled for a spot up the hill on Tower Street.
We rushed inside to escape the cold and was happy to see a table for 2 (the only open table) as if it was waiting for us! Dimitri greeted us right away then quickly prepared our table as we stood with others waiting to pick up take out orders.

As this was a very last-minute decision and I hadn’t done my research, I was not aware it’s BYOB so water was my drink of choice. (That made Mike happy when the check came!) Next time I’ll come more prepared as a nice glass of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc would have paired nicely with the spicy dish I ordered.
Unfamiliar with the menu, Dimitri was very excited to tell us that all the dishes were made to order using fresh ingredients. He passionately explained the menu options and specials board, answered all our questions and offered suggestions. I love when a server offers suggestions and tells us what they like especially when it’s our first time dining at a restaurant.
For starters it was a toss-up between the pan-fried veggie dumplings with a lemon-soy dipping sauce and the Thai chili flavor chicken wings that were just served to the table next to us (wow did they smell good!) We picked the dumplings to enjoy while we looked over every detail of the menu and contemplated what to order. Sorry…no pictures of the dumplings as we devoured them too fast!
I knew right away I wanted the “Create your own Revolution Noodle Bowl” which allows you to customize your dish with four options: 1. Choice of noodles – large rice flat noodles, rice stick, fettuccine, linguine or spaghetti. 2. Choice of sauce. I went with the “Drunken” sauce which was chili, garlic, Chinese broccoli and basil. 3. Choice of Protein – chicken, beef, tofu w/vegetables, shrimp, Point Judith calamari, Stonington scallops or seafood combo. Finally option 4 – The spice level (medium for me!) Mike was more adventurous and ordered the “Seafood Rice in Pineapple” which was shrimp, calamari, crab meat, sweet Thai sausage, eggs, raisins and cashews.
I love when a restaurant is set up with an open kitchen design. As we waited patiently for our meals we watched the two chefs, Noi and Ann, prepare the mouth-watering dishes using 2 large woks. They worked together in a calm, orderly fashion and didn’t seem flustered at all by the fact the restaurant was full, the phone was ringing with take out orders and people were still coming in.
When our meals came we had an element of surprise when they served Mike’s entrée in one half of a pineapple. Apparently we overlooked that it said “in pineapple.” Mike loved the flavor of the rice, seafood, fruit and nuts combination. He was very pleased with his choice and ate every bite.

It’s no surprise “Drunken Noodles” is their most popular dish! The fresh rice sticks (flat rice noodles that look like thin linguine) were cooked to perfection and accompanied by several shrimp, peppers, Chinese broccoli, sprouts and a delicate, flavorful sauce with just enough spice to leave your taste buds longing for another bite! It was served piping hot (one of the advantages of made to order dishes) in a metal wok style bowl and, of course, chop sticks. Since I’m Italian and a pro at twirling pasta and have yet to master chop sticks, I ate my meal with a fork. I’m pretty certain we were the only ones using utensils!

When clearing our plates, Dimitri appeared genuinely excited to hear how much we enjoyed our dinner. It reminded me of how I feel when others complement my cooking. He shared more about the restaurant and almost had us convinced to try the Green Tea Ice Cream for dessert. We were definitely intrigued yet too full from our amazing dinner to try it so we’ll be back and be sure to save room for dessert!
